The Society for Conservation Biology Oceania Section has members from around our region and across the globe. Together, our community of conservation professionals is working to advance conservation knowledge and practice in Oceania.

About Us

The Society for Conservation Biology (SCB) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to facilitating, promoting, and advancing the scientific study and conservation of biological diversity. With more than 5,000 members worldwide, professionals, students, organisations, and supporters collaborate together in a way that transcends borders to advance the SCB vision and mission.

The Society for Conservation Biology Oceania Section (SCBO) was formed in 2005, and operates with an elected independent board as one of the Society for Conservation Biology's six global Regions. It is a company limited by guarantee and charity registered in Australia. Our region encompasses five sub-regions: Australia, Melanesia, Micronesia, Aotearoa New Zealand and Polynesia.

Our aim is to implement the mission and goals of the Society within our region, to increase the impact and influence of conservation science and knowledge on management, education, and policy within Oceania. Our Board of Directors includes Member-elected Directors who are elected by a ballot of our members and serve for a three-year term and board-appointed Specialist Directors who serve for a one-year term.
