The Sydney chapter of the SCB works to bring people together to enhance the outcome of conservation efforts in the area. One way do this is through our Conservation Café events, held monthly. To each café event, we invite a conservation professional who shares information about their work, their projects, and how people can get involved. So far it has been a huge success and we already have lots of keen speakers lined up for the rest of the year.
In addition to the Conservation Café we have started a series of events called Creative Conservation. These events are designed to attract people who would like to express their creativity whilst learning something about conservation. We work together with a professional wildlife artist, Peter Wale, who helps us to marry art and science.
Our newest project to promote conservation in the Sydney Area involves the building of a database that contains the skills of our members. We hope to facilitate skills matching between the needs of conservation groups and the pool of skilled people who are able to help.
We hope to continue to build our presence within the Sydney area by supporting events such as the SCB Oceania Taronga Zoo night. We will also continue to provide spaces where like-minded people are able to find each other, connect their knowledge and networks, learn from each other, share their successes and setbacks, and be inspired.
