Happy World Oceans Day! Today is a global day of ocean celebration and collaboration for a better future. This year’s theme is Our Oceans, Our Future with a conservation action focus of “Encouraging solutions to plastic pollution and preventing marine litter for a healthier ocean and a better future”. Given the significance of the marine environment to countries in Oceania, SCB Oceania Chapters are hosting some great conservation events to celebrate the day.

- Live in the Sydney area? Join the SCB Sydney Chapter Saturday June 11 for a great event centred around marine debris, including a coastal walk along Sydney’s Bondi to Coogee coastal track after a short talk from Dr Mark Browne and marine debris and microplastic contamination. The Chapter will provide bags for collection of debris along the coastal walk and at the end of the walk you’ll use the debris found to create sculptures (prize on offer for the best artwork!). The event will finish with a BBQ. Book here – it’s free!
